Taroom 04.10.22
Tuesday
We farewelled our friends in Kogan this morning and have no real plans for the day other than to visit the lagoon 7kms south of Condamine.
Departed at 8.15am despite our relaxed morning. On the road to Condamine.
Stopped at the lagoon to have breakfast at 9am. Cold wind blowing so just had a short wander around to check out the area for another time. It's a free camp, with about 8 powered sites and more unpowered in a relaxed, designated area. There's a toilet block, bbqs, shelters, bins, fire pits and swimming in the lagoon. There's basic camping beside the water but it's a bit overgrown.
Stopped in Miles for a wander. We have been here before.
Lots of large vehicles and equipment around in Miles.
Headed out of Miles for Wandowan.
We enjoyed a 1.5km walk around Wandoan and an icecream then headed off towards Taroom.
We have enjoyed being 'free spirited' in our Journey today. 3 out of the 4 places we have stopped have been new to us. The weather is a perfect 26°. We have set up camp at the Taroom Lions Park. It's a free camp with a toilet block, bins and sheltered picnic tables. Today we travelled ~250kms.
Walked around town. Took a break then decided to walk up to the John Gilbert lookout.
We took the zig zag path down and the steep road up.
We decided to keep walking and have a look at the Dawson river.
Stoney crossing was under water.
