Day 7 Lake Callide 07.08.22
4km walk before breakfast.
Then back for breakfast and to pack up, departing at 9.30. Stopped at the picnic ground and decided to do another walk.
Two storey cave walk ~2km.
King Orchid crevice
Quick snack before leaving the gorge area. There's still a few more walks to do so hopefully we'll get back here again.
Stopped in Thangool as neither of us could remember ever being here before. Not a lot to see.Treated ourselves to a pub lunch.
The dining room looked very fancy for a small town pub. The meals were so big we each bought half home.
The plan was to stay in Biloela at the Heritage centre. Due to 30mm of rain yesterday they were closed. We elected to go to Lake Callide Retreat, 15kms east of Biloela. This is a new place for us.
The view from my reclining chair.Went for yet another walk ~2km to checkout the dam.
Unpowered camping area
Callide power station in the distance.
Campground from a different perspective.
Not a lot of water. Machinery parked at the bottom of the dam wall.
Lots of trees washed up when the water level was a lot higher.
Spillway.
Day use area.
Watched the sunset and looked for satellites before it got too chilly. Found 4. Over night temperature expected to be 7°, feels that at 8pm.
Today we travelled 114kms taking our total travelled hitched to 501kms. We walked a little under 10kms.
